About Us

Mountain Village Chalets is nestled on 20 acres in the heart of Hickory Nut Gorge and is centrally located to all points of interest in Western North Carolina. In 1971 the first Chalet was built and completed, but we didn't stop there. We wanted to build more. With hopes and dreams, as well as a lot of hard work and dedication, our dreams came true in 1997. We had successfully built three chalets, eight cabins, three suites, and three hotel units. What we had set out to do had been accomplished. We now have a warm and inviting place for families on vacation, family reunions, or weary travelers looking for a place to rest over night.

Hickory Nut Gorge, often called the most beautiful natural canyon in the Eastern United States, is about 14 miles long and offers spectacular scenery. Among these is the Rocky Broad River which extends from Gerton though Bat Cave and Chimney Rock and runs into the crystal waters of Lake Lure. All along the way are countless opportunities for relaxation and enjoyment. As well as beautiful scenery, fishing, hiking, water sports, music, golf, good food, mountain crafts, quaint shops filled with antiques, plenty of apple cider , and homemade jams.

Caring for travelers has been the chief industry in the Gorge since the first pioneers used this route into the highlands in the 1800's. We want to carry on the tradition and make your stay here at Mountain Village Chalets memorable. We want it to be your home away from home. Our goal is to meet your needs and make your stay as comfortable as possible.
